A self-taught chef and native Floridian, Damon took over as the executive chef of New York City’s Lalito at age 24. Soon after, she was named the first culinary director of indie women and food magazine Cherry Bombe. In August, Damon cofounded Auxilio Space, a non-profit, community-centered food space geared toward providing services, support and jobs for queer, trans, Black and indigenous communities in New York City. The space also houses her Kia Feeds The People Program, which delivers fresh produce and pantry items to Black, brown and indigenous communities in Brooklyn.
